To speak and behave in a way that pleases and pleases each other is an art of living with the foundation of truth, wisdom and compassion. Sometimes people often praise someone for being well-spoken because they know how to persuade people to benefit themselves, and make others do what they want. In fact, this behavior and way of speaking is not good-natured, well-spoken, but self-indulgent, slanderous, frivolous, and flattering to fascinate people.

According to the wisdom of the World-Honored One, to become a good talker, one must first speak at the right time. Determining the right time to speak up about an issue is very important. If you feel that it is not the right time, you should not say it because even if you say it, it will not bring you any results. Next, to speak well is to tell the truth because there is nothing more magical or sublime than talking about the truth. Granted, not having to tell any truth is beneficial for you and others, so you have to wait for the right time to speak. And once the time is right, decide not to cover up or tell the truth.

On the other hand, speech must be gentle and peaceful in order to bring about trust and harmony. You have to cultivate inner serenity to be able to speak elegantly and gently. Words will become great when we and others both benefit. More important than words emitted out of compassion, because of love, always wish for people to be peaceful and beneficial. Therefore, those who know how to “talk like flowers” at the right time, with the truth, with gentleness, benefit and compassion, this person will surely reap a lot of peace and happiness.

It is not without reason when the ancients said “disaster comes from the mouth”. Therefore, practicing to transform harsh words into good in order to avoid conflicts, discord, and suffering is essential in the daily life of every Buddhist child.
