The official letter signed by Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon – Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha states:
After a long time of implementing the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control distance, the provinces, Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai have applied a new anti-epidemic strategy: safe adaptation, flexibility, control. effectively control the Covid-19 epidemic. Since September 30, millions of workers, laborers and people living and working in the provinces, Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Binh Duong, Dong Nai … have the desire to return to their homeland. . With the possibility of concentrated isolation and limited medical conditions, many provinces and cities in the Southwest region and the Central Highlands urgently need to join hands to help people return from epidemic areas.
The Standing Committee of the Executive Council respectfully proposes to the Executive Boards of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha of provinces and cities to consider using pagodas and monasteries that are qualified to serve as concentrated isolation areas for people that have been approved by the local government. transportation from the epidemic area. It is recommended that the Executive Boards of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha of provinces and cities need to implement:
1. 2. The Board of Directors calls on monks, nuns, Buddhists and benefactors to continue supporting charity kitchens and loving meals to serve people in concentrated isolation areas, especially organizing kitchens. at temples selected as quarantine points.
3. Continue to call for donations of medical supplies such as masks, antiseptic water, medical protective suits, Covid-19 quick test kits… for quarantine areas, join hands with local authorities to ensure safety health and well-being of the people.
During the recent anti-epidemic period, especially the 4th outbreak of the disease caused by the Delta mutation, the Executive Boards, monks and nuns, Buddhists at pagodas and monasteries throughout the country have done a great job. For volunteering and epidemic prevention and control, a number of temples have been and are concentrated isolation sites.
