Pohyon Temple in Hyangsan District (Phyonganbuk), built in the early 11th century, is the largest Buddhist center in North Korea. The pagoda was destroyed by bombs and bullets and restored many times.

Visitors pass through the Cao Khe gate built in 1644 and then pass the Deva statues to enter the inner area.  In the central courtyard, there is also a stele detailing the history of the temple.
