Ksitigarbha (Ksitigarbha) in Sanskrit is “Ksitigarbha” in Sanskrit, and in Chinese it is called “U Minh Dao Master Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva”. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is in the Dao Loi heaven (which is the second of the six heavens of the Desire Realm on the top of Mount Sumeru in Jambudvipa).

The Ksitigarbha Sutra says: When Shakyamuni Buddha ascended to Dao Loi heaven to preach the Dharma to the Holy Mother, in the midst of the great assembly of all Buddhas, bodhisattvas, and saints, he graciously entrusts his blessings. instructed) to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, saying: “I will take the matter that sentient beings in the heavenly and human realms have not yet escaped from the Three Realms and Six Paths, and are still in the house of fire, relying on the Bodhisattva not to let those sentient beings be exiled. fall in every evil way.” The sutra also states: “About after Shakyamuni’s extinction, but Maitreya had not yet been born, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva often appeared in the human world, the heavenly realm, and the hell realm to relieve suffering. people”. Because of the Buddha’s blessing and having great supernatural powers, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva often turns up and down in the six paths to save sentient beings.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and his great vow to save all sentient beings

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva

At that time, in the Dharma assembly there was an elder named Dai Bian. The Elder has long witnessed the fruit of non-birth, embodied the Elder to save sentient beings in the ten directions, and respectfully folded his hands and asked him. Earth Store Bodhisattva that:

“Dear Master! In the land of Jambudvipa, are there any sentient beings who, after their death, whose relatives, great or small, practice meritorious deeds for the sake of that dead person, even make offerings to them, perform blessings, and do good deeds at the time of death. Is there any great benefit together with liberation?”

The Remainer and the Loser both gain

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva replied, “O Elder! Now, for all sentient beings in this present and in the future, I rely on the Buddha’s majesty to briefly talk about it.

Hey Mr. Chief! Beings in the present or the future, when they are about to die, hear the name of a Buddha, the name of a Bodhisattva, or the name of a Pratyekabuddha. liberate all.

Just as there are men and women who do not cultivate blessings when they are born, but commit crimes, after the death of a person, relatives, large and small, cultivate blessings for the death of the deceased. In the holy way, of the seven merits of the deceased, one part of the merit is owed to the deceased, while the remaining six merits belong to the relatives who are currently taking care of that cultivation.

Because of the above, good men and good women in the present and in the future, listening to what has just been said, should strive to cultivate and reap the full merit.

The evil impermanent demon came without an appointment, the spirit wandered and did not know whether it was a sin or a blessing, for forty-nine days like deafening, or stayed at the headquarters to discuss karma, when assessing After that, just follow the karma that life gets the results.

The merits of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha

While not sure how to do that, there were thousands of sorrows, let alone falling into the evil paths. The spirit of that dead person, when not yet born, stayed for forty-nine days, always waiting for the bones of his relatives to cultivate blessings to save him.

After forty-nine days, according to karma, life takes retribution. That dead person, if he is a sinner, has not been spared for a thousand years.

If you are a person who commits the five sins without interruption, you will fall into the great hell and endure the sufferings for thousands of eons.

Again, hey Chief! After sentient beings commit such a crime and die, relatives and relatives may fast to help add blessings to that dead person.

When you’re done shopping, don’t bring rice water, vegetable leaves, etc. while you’re working, and spill it on the ground, until the food that hasn’t been used as offerings to the Buddha and Sangha can’t be eaten first.

If the person eats illegally and is not thoroughly purified, that person will not receive any blessings at that time.

If it is possible to carefully keep it clean and use it as an offering to the Buddha and Sangha, then one of the seven merits will be enjoyed by the dead person.

Hey Mr. Chief! Therefore, the beings in Jambudvipa, after the death of their parents or relatives, if they are able to make vegetarian offerings, and wholeheartedly pray for such people, the survivors and those who have died will benefit equally.” .

At the time when Ksitigarbha said this, there were thousands of thousands of billions of billions of billions of people in the Dao Loi heaven who, due to the release of the demons and gods of Jambudvipa, all generated the Bodhi mind immeasurable. The elder Dai Bian happily obeyed the teaching, did the ceremony, and withdrew.
