In a letter sent on January 22, His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed his condolences on the passing of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, his “friend and brother in the Dharma”.

The telegram from His Holiness the Dalai Lama reads:

“I am very sad to hear that Master Thich Nhat Hanh, my friend and brother in the Dharma, has passed away. I send my condolences to his disciples in Vietnam as well as around the world.

With his campaign for peace, opposing the war in Vietnam, his support for Martin Luther King and above all his dedication in spreading the method of Mindfulness and Compassion to not only aim By achieving inner peace through which each individual, by cultivating peace of mind, will contribute to the true peace of the world, he has lived a truly meaningful life.

I firmly believe that the best way for us to show our gratitude to Him is to continue His work in promoting peace in the world.
