So it is necessary to rely on the Dharma by practicing mindfulness and keeping the precepts to be happy…

Devas are beings of the heavenly species, with more blessings than humans. However, if the gods do not know how to rely on the Dharma to practice liberation, they will still suffer birth and death in the three worlds, and even fail to maintain the blessings of the heavens. Therefore, the gods often study the Buddha’s Dharma from the Blessed One.

The two goddesses in the Dharma talk below have realized that it is essential to rely on the Dharma for lasting happiness. The core of relying on the Buddhadharma is ‘mindfulness’ and ‘enough discipline’. If, because of evil views or ignorance, we cannot see the value of the Buddhadharma and turn to take refuge, we will ‘fall down the evil path’.

What practice to have long-term happiness?

“Once, the Buddha was by the Dihou pond, in the Chongkac lecture hall, in the country of Vaisali. At that time, there was the goddess Caucanasa, the goddess Chau-lo-da with wonderful beauty, at the end of the night, went to the Buddha’s place, bowed to the Buddha’s feet, and then sat down to one side; light radiates from the body, illuminating the edge of the Di-hou pond. At this time, the goddess Chau-lo-da spoke in verse to the Buddha:

Great Master Dang Chanh Enlightenment

In the country of Vaisali

Canaan, Chaulo

Please pay respects.

I’ve never heard of it before

Chief Law of Maui

Now to meet in person

Show money speak the Dharma.

If against the Holy Law

Evil wisdom born of hate

t will fall the evil way

Enduring sufferings.

If against the Holy Law

Mindfulness, enough discipline

The other person was born in Heaven

Long lasting happiness.

The goddess Kocanasa spoke again in verse:

The other mind does not create evil

And body, mouth; in life

All five desires are illusory

Right wisdom, right mindfulness

Do not approach the sufferings

Meaningless harmony.

The Blessed One said to the goddess:

-Right! Right! As you said:

The other mind does not create evil

And body, mouth; in life

All five desires are illusory

Right wisdom, right mindfulness

Do not approach the sufferings

Meaningless harmony.

The other goddesses heard what the Buddha said, rejoiced, rejoiced, and then disappeared.

(A-Ham Sutra, sutra No. 1274 [trích])

Every day Buddha’s disciples pray ‘I go back to take refuge in the Dharma’. The basis of Buddhist refuge in the Dharma is mindfulness and sufficient discipline. Mindfulness is remembering to think rightly, is learning to see clearly our thoughts in order to control and transform our body, speech, and mind. Because for a long time we often lose our mindfulness, lose our awareness of the mind, so everything is done according to the dynamic, aroused karma. As you become familiar with your mind, becoming aware of your own thoughts – how they arise, form and pass away, and keep on reciting mindfulness without ceasing – your mindfulness becomes more and more stable, becoming more and more self-controlled in everything. situation. You must see the mind clearly in order to transform and master the mind.

Along with the practice of mindfulness is trying to keep the precepts, ie ‘enough discipline’. The precious holy world that the Buddha gave us is for the sole purpose of ‘Not approaching suffering / Having lasting happiness’. Depending on the awareness and efforts of each person to keep the precepts to create happiness and happiness for themselves. So it is necessary to rely on the Dharma by practicing mindfulness and keeping the precepts in order to be happy.

The Buddhadharma is vast, but the essence is still the practice of things that are easy to understand, close and simple. Develop mindfulness to know the mind clearly and stop and transform the unwholesome seeds. Keep the dharma precepts to always live in a good environment. If you do this, you will be happy in the present and in the future.
