Great Master An Quang said: “Praying the Buddha Dharma in reverence is part of the benefit; ten parts reverence is ten parts benefit.”

Everyone is very familiar with this saying, but very few people really understand the meaning of “respect” and “require” the Dharma. “Gun” is “just mind”, together with the Buddha together into one mind: understanding the meaning of the Buddha’s teaching. “Pray” is to subdue “conceit” (the obstacle of an arrogant and insolent ego), to develop the good virtues of Buddha nature, also to take the initiative to bow down, humbly ask for advice, not have to get high job, wait Buddha came to beg his classmates, in fact the Buddha wholeheartedly begged us for enlightenment, begged for a long time, the Buddha still begged us to study Buddhism, don’t use delusional mind. But we force people to do high things, can’t subdue our own foolishness and pride, refuse to bow to our understanding, so we don’t know what to do.

It’s hard to give and receive just like the Dharma

If you keep your respect, even in ordinary days in small acts of dealing with people, you can still realize the Buddhadharma.

The Buddha is an enlightened person, he is very compassionate, and very free. In fact, He doesn’t have to ask us to respect Him at all, even if we don’t revere Him or even dishonor Him, it has no effect on Him, but it does for us. enormous influence. Call it a bridge Buddhism In reverence, it is not at all that the Buddha is so great that people have to bow their heads before they can give some of the Buddha’s teachings. Reverence is not simply reverence for Buddha images and scriptures, but reverence for all sentient beings, the truth of things in the face of all circumstances, it is possible to express the profound Buddha mind, together with the Buddha in common. one mind – sharing the same Bodhi mind of enlightenment, compassion, and at the same time with the Buddha a soft and humble mind, just like the Buddha of the past reverently sacrificed his body to seek the Dharma, he himself was in “things” able to pray for. its “reason”.

If you keep your respect, even in ordinary days in small acts of dealing with people, you can still realize the Buddhadharma. If you don’t keep your respect, even if you go through a thousand “things”, you will still not be able to understand the “reason” of the Buddhadharma in it.

Some people think that asking in reverence is a kind of indirect method and trick to ask for the Buddha’s Dharma, but they don’t know that “ask in reverence” which is a wonderful method to subdue the defilements of self-grasping. the most direct”, it is itself a profound Buddha Dharma, it is not through the “reverence for the Dharma” that you get what the Buddhadharma is. Because what hinders our becoming a Buddha is not someone else, any other thing, but it is our own delusions and attachments.

It seems that reciting the Buddha’s name is very easy, but without the “require in reverence” mind, it is possible that the electric wave of the thoughts of the emission will be greatly erroneous, unable to enter the Buddhist path.

This was stated by the Buddha when he first attained enlightenment. The most basic thing in the “attachment” is the self-grasping, the confusion in the views, the thoughts of the self. From attachment to self is born: greed (desire), anger (anger), delusion (stupidity), conceit (arrogance), doubt (doubt), which self protects, self-centered. So asking for the Dharma in reverence is to go beyond those attachments directly.

If you do not revere, do not humbly ask for the Buddhadharma, of course, there will still be a dark cloud of arrogance, conceit, and ego that protects all kinds of egos. These dark clouds are not an obstacle to others, but an obstacle to one’s own opening of Buddha light.

An Quang’s teaching “how much respect you get, the more benefits you get” is not at all meant to be said through reverence, but to pray for the Dharma for a long time to gain benefits, but rather to say reverently. ie right there remove the dark cloud of ego, of course, at the same time radiate Buddha light. If you remove all the dark clouds of ten parts of pride and ego, then naturally there will be ten parts of Buddha light. That is the inherent Buddha Light of self-nature, not seeking outside. It is said that to seek the Dharma in respect, of course, is to seek in one’s own mind the part of the power that can subdue conceit and stupidity. If you have the desire to come from this part of your own mind, then you will be able to show respect and seek the Dharma. The bodhisattva precepts of “sincerity on the inside, appearance on the outside” teach us that when the Buddha Dharma is difficult to understand, we must observe it properly, admit that we are blind, have no wisdom, and use the correct attitude. faith in Buddha, reverently seek the Dharma, study. Failure to study diligently is also a violation of the spirit of precepts.

It seems that reciting the Buddha’s name is very easy, but without the “require in reverence” mind, it is possible that the electric wave of the thoughts of the emission will be greatly erroneous, unable to enter the Buddhist path. Just like shooting an arrow, it is not difficult to shoot but difficult to hit the target. Just holding the bow and arrow is wrong, wrong by a dime, losing a thousand miles.
