The Venerable Head of the Executive Board said that the 10th Buddhist Congress of Long An Province, term 2022-2026, is a great and meaningful event, marking the maturity and development of Buddhism in the province. home. The theme of today’s Congress is: “Discipline, Responsibility, Solidarity, Development”, aiming at the goal of maintaining discipline and Buddhist precepts; uphold the sense of responsibility, solidarity and harmony to develop a Buddhist house in the heart of the nation.
Reporting on Buddhist affairs for the IX term, Venerable Thich Le Duyen, Deputy Head and Chief Secretary of the Executive Board, said: Long An has a total of 316 monastic establishments, 7 places of concentrated religious activities, 1,582 monks and nuns (724 monks and 858 nuns).
In the past 5 years, following the spirit of the Resolution of the 9th Buddhist Congress of Long An Province, term 2017-2022; The Executive Board of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha in Long An province has led, operated and guided monks, nuns and Buddhists to strictly abide by the Charter of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha, the State’s policies and laws; accompanying and sticking with the nation, following the motto “Dharma, Nation, Socialism”.
With the care and support of the leaders of the Long An province government, the departments of mass organizations at all levels and the dedicated direction of the Central Church, the consensus and synergy of the monks, nuns, and Buddhists of the province should be in the term of office. Through Buddhism, Long An has achieved many important Buddhist activities such as: successfully organizing 13 districts, towns and cities for the term 2021-2026; organized two Great Precepts for the transmission of the Dharma for 1387 precepts; appoint 41 abbots; confirm ordination for 206 Buddhists; trained 131 monks and nuns to graduate from the VI course of Long An Intermediate Buddhist Studies, 89 to graduate from the 6th and 7th courses. Beginner Buddhist studies; organized 300 training ashrams for Buddhists, 36 summer retreats for more than 7,500 young people to attend.
