And cutting hair is an expression of the determination to change oneself in a more positive direction, towards higher, giving up mundane things to aim for the noble things of the Saints. When shaving, the precepts need to keep in mind that they will “shave” bad habits, evil actions; strive to become good children, good students, good citizens, contributing to building a peaceful and happy life for themselves, their families and society.
