On June 24, 286 students, 62 teachers and parents of Viet My International Primary School had moments of experience in studying at Giac Ngo Pagoda, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.
At the beginning of the retreat, the students were instructed by the Sangha to pay respects to the Three Jewels and read the Vu Lan – Filial piety sutra. After that, the children continued to be guided to meditate.
Venerable Thich Nhat Tu, abbot of Giac Ngo Pagoda, directly taught the children the skills of sitting meditation to feel peace, comfort and relaxation in the present moment.
Venerable Thich Nhat Tu also sent to the children 5 valuable lessons from the Buddha, that is: the spirit of effort and independence; love hands-on experience; never stop discovering and inventing; grateful and grateful; diligently contribute and serve humanity.
During the candlelight ceremony to thank their parents, nearly 300 students had the opportunity to meditate and think about the merits of the two parents.
