The Buddhist Congress of Ho Chi Minh City, term X (2022 – 2027) nominated Venerable Thich Le Trang to be the Head of the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha.

June 18, Buddhist Delegate Congress Ho Chi Minh City term X (2022 – 2027) took place in Vietnam Quoc Tu with the participation of dignitaries from the Standing Committee of the Proving Council, the Executive Council, the committees, institutes, etc. of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha.

Attending the congress were representatives of leaders of the Party, State, departments, branches and unions at all levels and 750 delegates.

During the congress, the Venerable Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, Acting Dharma President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Congress was honored to receive the First Class Independence Medal from the President for having had especially outstanding achievements in Buddhist work and social charity from 2017 to 2021, building and strengthening and developing the great national unity bloc, contributing to the construction of socialism and defense of the Fatherland .

In addition, a number of individuals were also honored to receive the First, Second, and Third Class Labor Medals; Medal of Great National Unity of the President. Individuals with outstanding achievements in Buddhist work also received certificates of merit from the Prime Minister, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee as well as the City People’s Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee.

Most Venerable Thich Minh Thong, Deputy Head of the Executive Board, Deputy Head of the Human Resources Subcommittee of the Congress presented the list of personnel to be introduced to the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Ho Chi Minh City for the term 2022 – 2027, including 101 members in the Proving Committee, the Board of Directors. Advisory and Board of Directors. In which, the Proving Board: 10 members, the Advisory Board: 2 members, the Executive Board consists of 89 members (the Standing Board is 32 members). This list was approved by the general assembly.

The 10th Buddhist Congress of Ho Chi Minh City also officially nominated Venerable Thich Le Trang as the new Head of the Executive Board cum Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha Committee, term 2022 – 2027. The Venerable Thich Le Trang was born in the year 2022 – 2027. 1958 is currently the abbot of Dinh Thanh Pagoda (P.15, District 10).

Elder Venerable Thich Tri Quang said that in the IX term, there were people who dared to sacrifice, commit, and many activities to support people during the epidemic season. The programs of the Charity – Social Department are recognized.

The Venerable Elder expected that the X term would clean up the apparatus, comply with the rules and laws of the State, and the canon law of the Church. “Ho Chi Minh City has many religions, all consider Buddhism as a brother. Therefore, each member of Buddhism also needs to show solidarity,” said the Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang.

During the congress, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Ho Chi Minh City gave the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City 5 billion VND to the Fund for the Poor and 5 billion VND to the Fund for the Motherland Sea and Islands.

Most Venerable Thich Le Trang’s real name is Le Van Gioi, 64 years old, ordained at the age of 15, residing at Dinh Thanh Pagoda (District 10). In 2017, the Venerable Master was appointed abbot of Hue Nghiem pagoda (Binh Khanh ward, former district 2, now Thu Duc city). Currently, Most Venerable Thich Le Trang is the Deputy Head of the Executive Board cum Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha Ceremonies Committee.
