The ego keeps tricking us into making one mistake after another. Remember that being good once is not necessarily good, for the root of these faults are fetters that remain intact. We have to keep this in mind, we have to be on guard with ourselves every moment.

Usually, others just “move” a little, without saying a word, we see that they are at fault. The secret of cultivation is that: We often look back at our own mind, not letting the mind wander and follow the ceiling. Looking at what our mind is thinking, thinking, moving or still, is this thought in line with morality or not…? But the difficulty is that when we look into our own mind, we see all the good. Seeing myself as good here, good there, cute there… often complimenting myself, but it’s very difficult to see my mistakes, my bad, especially subtle mistakes.

There are people who fast for ten days a month, recite a few long sutras, and feel satisfied and think that their blessings have surpassed everyone else’s. it’s complacency, but this person doesn’t see it.

There are people who really want to help others, so they wish to be a king to rule and bless all, and see themselves as kind and cute! This is not goodwill but ambition. The will to help someone who has been deceived by the ego is confused with ambition and power. but the “death” is that this person does not see it, and thinks that he is good.

We only have one sense to look at ourselves, and more ego Deception makes us keep praising ourselves, damaging our merits and blocking our way to the good path, so our path becomes even more difficult. An idea arises that we think is good, but behind is a whole block of ego, so many habits, fetters like a giant sink of an iceberg that still remains unbroken. but cultivation is to remove this place, don’t let the ego fool you to keep praising yourself, you have to use your mind base to look at your mind more often, don’t let the five senses drag your mind to run after the outside world. . Seeing behind the thought is good is the one who knows how to cultivate.

Buddha said: The bigger the ego, the more face, the more vulnerable it is

Tu is to eliminate each error, but when this error is eliminated, another error will arise, because the root is still there. So it is important to practice how to see the root of this fetter.

Some people used to see that people had upstairs houses, so they also worked hard, hoping to build a house as good as friends. Later, because he knew how to turn around and observe his own mind, this person saw that this wish was wrong, so he gave it up, so he made a little progress. But if this person is subjective, he will think he is good, he can only let go of that one idea, and the fetter of greed is still intact. but only the sage can break this fetter to keep the purity of the salary.

Or there are people who see the scene of life being crowded and dangerous, seeing people racing to chase after fame and gain is very tiring, so they want to give up everything to go home. It was really good. After leaving home, this person dreams: “I will become an enlightened Zen master, a teacher who travels all the way to heaven and earth, bringing morality, bringing joy, bringing happiness to everyone”. And in my mind, everyone will be happy, respectfully welcome, even someone will bow down to me. I think it’s good, but it’s not clever to be deceived by the ego with beautiful words in the way: attaining enlightenment, Zen masters, and teachers on the dharma court are respected by everyone… The ambition has not ended, only changed from this state. to another state, from one concept to another. Abandon the vain fame of the world and secretly yearn for the glory of religion.

As for the true cultivators, they must keep their bodies and minds together, practice diligently so that they can practice deeply for a day, and their spirituality will improve day by day, but it’s all for the sake of the Buddhadharma, for the benefit of sentient beings. The dream of enlightenment is also capable of teaching and helping sentient beings get rid of suffering, without even dreaming of fame and glory for themselves. No matter how many meritorious deeds you do, you will always see yourself as just a speck of dust, just a piece of grass.

The ego keeps tricking us into making one mistake after another. Remember that being good once is not necessarily good, for the root of these faults are fetters that remain intact. We have to keep this in mind, we have to be on guard with ourselves every moment. Tu is to eliminate each error, but when this error is eliminated, another error will arise, because the root is still there. So it is important to practice how to see the root of this fetter.

Festive fetters are deep, deep parts of consciousness. You have to pay respects to the Buddha, do a lot of good deeds in life, meditate very diligently, meditate deeply… and then gradually have wisdom that comes to that root. But seeing the fetter must be a high-ranking monk, not a simple monk. Seeing to this place and then knowing how to practice, it is called “self-reflection of duty and self-discipline” – do not let the ego deceive.

There are many things in life that you can see, but they are not. When glory, wealth and happiness come, many people think it is happiness, but they do not know that it contains many dangers. Someone who won the lottery thought it was lucky but didn’t expect it to be a disaster. Or being voted the most beautiful in the world, the person with the most fans… thought to be extremely happy but not sure. Because people’s hearts fade quickly, life is fragile and impermanent, we can lose beauty, wealth, position… in a moment. So who is the luckiest? That is the person who appreciates himself correctly – the key to practice to eliminate ego-clinging, to stop reincarnation suffering.

However, most of us don’t see ourselves correctly. When we are ugly, we think that we are good; we are greedy but we think we are generous and we think we are generous. We were all wrong. Only a cultivator gets to the point of getting close to Sainthood and then begins to evaluate himself accurately bit by bit, knowing that this is anger, that is greed, that is envy, narrow-mindedness, affliction, etc. we are still wrong to see to ourselves. So whenever the thought of self-praise arises in the mind, we must know that the ego is deceiving us. That mind opens the way for us to regress into the three evil paths. So guard yourself, beware of every thought that arises in your mind.
