Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Mr. Vu Hoai Bac overviewed the process of formation and development of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha was established in 1981 on the basis of merging 9 Buddhist organizations and sects throughout the country. After 40 years of construction and development, with the direction of operation “Dharma – Nationality – Socialism”, the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha with the principle of unity of will and action, unity of leadership and organization, while still respecting and maintaining the traditions of the sect, as well as the methods and means of proper practice. The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has made great strides in terms of organizational structure, number of places of worship, number of dignitaries, positions and fellow Buddhists in the country and abroad.
