This morning, July 4, 2022, at the Binh Dinh Provincial Convention Center, the Standing Board of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Binh Dinh province solemnly held the 7th Buddhist Congress of Binh Dinh Province, term 2022- 2027.

Before the Congress officially took place, at 7:30, all the venerables and delegates departed in a convoy from Long Khanh communal house to Binh Dinh Provincial Convention Center.

Buddhism in Binh Dinh province currently has 8 district-level Executive Committees out of 11 districts (there are 3 districts that have not yet established administrative committees, namely Van Canh, Vinh Thanh, Hoai An), 1,220 monks and nuns (the clergy: 23 Venerables; 44 monks; 14 nuns; 17 nuns), 394 recognized monasteries (362 temples, monasteries and 32 viharas.), Buddhists: 780,000. The committees of the Executive Board have completed many important Buddhist activities in the province such as charity relief, support for policy families, support for Covid-19 anti-epidemic checkpoints, vaccine purchase, and human blood donation. religion, ‘o dong’ ambulance model, student retreat, summer retreat, Bat Quan trai retreat, lectures, news updates on Buddha’s birthday, Retreat, Vu Lan, Buddhist festivals such as Appointment, Inauguration, etc. Currently, there are 25 units of Buddhist Family living in the heart of the Church, (279 Brothers and 1373 Youth Youth Unions, there are 09 Leaders of Tan level, 44 Brothers of Tin level, 80 Leaders of senior level. In 2018, the University organized a scientific conference with the theme “Buddhism and Binh Dinh Literature: Achievements and Values” with the participation of more than 800 monks, nuns, scholars, and Buddhists.

Last term, Buddhism in Binh Dinh province carried out social charity work with a total value of VND 83,867,120,000.

Regarding the program of Buddhist activities for the term 2022-2027, the Board of Directors sets the following objectives: to strengthen the organization of the office system and professional departments; thoroughly settle the case of the monk begging for alms and the monk is not at the temple, does not work with the Church; promoting the opening of the College of Buddhist Studies; publish the Directory of monasteries in the province; guiding the registration procedures for unrecognized monastic establishments; professional committees continue to promote the achievements.

With the achievements of Buddhism in Binh Dinh province, the Central Committee of the Church awarded the Certificate of Merit to 1 group and 5 individuals. Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 11 individuals. The Board of Directors of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Binh Dinh province increased the Certificate of Merit for 20 collectives, namely the District Executive Board and professional committees.

Most Venerable Thich Nguyen Phuoc, Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Binh Dinh province, announced the end of the sixth term, term 2017-2022.

After that, Venerable Thich Dong Thanh, Deputy Head of the Human Resources Committee, on behalf of the Human Resources Subcommittee of the Congress, introduced the personnel expected to be introduced into the Buddhist Executive Board of Binh Dinh Province for the 2022-2027 term, including 64 taste. All delegates unanimously approved the list of personnel to be elected to the Executive Board and Standing Committee of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Binh Dinh province, for the term 2022-2027, including the Proving Committee: 6 members, the Executive Board consisting of 58 members. Among the members of the Standing Committee, 31 members and 27 members, Venerable Thich Nguyen Phuoc was re-elected to assume the position of Head of the Executive Board.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province, acknowledged the contribution of the Buddha in terms of political, economic, social and environmental security. Binh Dinh Church throughout its history, especially in the past 40 years since the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha was established. He emphasized that the provincial Church takes the national interest as the foundation, actively eliminates superstition and social evils, develops Buddhism in the province according to the law, the charter and the state law.

Speaking to direct the Congress, Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Chairman of the Executive Council congratulated the Buddhist Congress of Binh Dinh province, term 2022-2027 to a great success. The Venerable Master praised Binh Dinh Buddhism for overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic and successfully organizing the congresses of delegates of the districts, towns and cities under the province. The Venerable Master directed the New Executive Board to soon complete the list of personnel and submit it to the provincial authorities and the Central Church for approval by the Standing Committee of the Executive Council. At the same time, the new Executive Board also soon strengthened the personnel of the specialized departments to be approved for personnel soon and put into operation soon.

Delegates present at the congress voted unanimously to approve the Resolution of the Buddhist Congress of Binh Dinh province, term 2022-2027 at 10:30 am on July 4, 2022. The resolution will be deployed and widely disseminated by the Standing Committee of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to guide monks, nuns and Buddhists to study stably.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Most Venerable Thich Dong Qua, Deputy Executive Board member delivered the closing speech. The Buddhist Congress of Binh Dinh Province, term 2022-2027, was successfully completed after 3 hours of work.
