Hien Nam Pagoda was established 103 years ago (1919 – 2022) and has been passed down through 4 generations of abbots to date. The founder of Hien Nam pagoda was the Venerable Dang Van Hoang (1825-1935), a member of the Master Dai Dao sect. Following the second generation was Venerable Thich Tam Thanh (1890-1970). Successor to the 3rd generation is the Most Venerable Thich Chon Ton (1919-2002), commonly known by the familiar name Master Hai. In his youth, he studied Buddhism from Most Venerable Thich Tam Thanh when the Venerable Master opened the mountain and practiced religion at Nhuan Nam Pagoda. He received the abbot of Nhuan Nam pagoda to practice and practice religion.
But because during the war, bombs and bullets destroyed his homeland, so he wandered into the land of Quy Nhon, to Hien Nam pagoda. When there was enough good luck, the Venerable Master passed on the responsibility of abbot of Hien Nam Pagoda.
